ATN Ascender

The only rope ascender designed for the marine environment. Stainless steel, so it will not rust, with an open design that fits over a taut halyard, synthetic shroud, or stay from 3/8" to 5/8".

About the Ascender

The Ascender is manufactured exclusively for ATN by CMI, a climbing product specialist, and it is built for one job most climbing ascenders cannot do: living on a boat. Aluminum climbing hardware corrodes in salt air; the ATN Ascender is stainless steel and does not rust.

Because the design is open on one side, it fits OVER a line that is already tensioned. You do not need to thread the end of the halyard through it. That is what makes it practical as mast-climbing gear and as a safety device.

Use it to climb the mast alone, or run it on a second halyard as a safety backup while climbing with the ATN Mastclimber. A pair of Ascenders also retrofits an old Topclimber to modern hardware.

Safety note: The ear of the shackle MUST be screwed from the left side of the Ascender to promote tightening. It is also important that you mouse the shackle ear.
