Architectural Nets and Loft Netting, Custom-Made

Dock nets are a unique and highly functional addition to your dock space. They are breathable and add additional lounging space on your dock. Originated in the over-water hammocks of the Maldives. These have spread to other resorts throughout the world and are now commonly being used in private backyard installations.

• Triangle dock net: the easiest to install without requiring additional framing; fits in the right angle of a dock.
• Rectangular dock net: you frame around all four sides.
• Three-sided dock net: one side is open.

When paired with a nice architectural pillow (shoot us a message if you want one, we have custom options), this often becomes the most-used outdoor furniture piece. A stiff structural frame is important; the net will be stretched tightly.

Loft nets are architectural nets placed indoors, sometimes called floor nets because they are typically built into the floor or an extension of the floor on upper levels of a house. They function like a dock net: expansive, airy spaces fantastic for lounging or, more commonly today, for kids to play on. A bit counter-intuitively, black nets often disappear best into the space and create the most expansive and airy feel. A loft net is a lot like having a private nest in your own home. Like dock nets, a strong frame is required for the hardware. Loft nets can include cutouts for ladder openings or additional access points.

Perimeter options. Each material ships with a specific perimeter construction: 13mm Polyamide uses a Serged Net Perimeter; 22mm and 30mm DoubleRope Polyester ship with a DoubleRope Border; SuperTramp ships with a Reinforced Grommet Perimeter. 1" Black Dyneema is offered with your choice of DyneemaCore Rope Perimeter (default) or Reinforced Grommet Perimeter at the same price; choose in the calculator above.

• 1" Black Dyneema (high performance, black only). Our top-of-line architectural net for outside applications where strength-to-weight matters and you want the least sag possible. 1 inch (25mm) square knotless braided mesh constructed from UHMWPE fibers in a 20-ply, 4-strand continuous filament structure with fibers aligned at every mesh intersection. Twine diameter approximately 3.1mm (1/8 inch); single-mesh breaking strength approximately 765 lbs (~347 kg). Up to 15 times stronger than steel by weight while remaining very light. Excellent UV resistance; outside lifespan 10+ years. Offered with your choice of DyneemaCore Rope Perimeter or Reinforced Grommet Perimeter. Pro-rated warranty: 7 years outside / 10 years inside.
• 13mm Polyamide (indoor focused). Inside applications only. The 13mm uses a single-rope serged edge rather than the DoubleRope inner reinforcement used on the 22mm and 30mm Polyester. Light, fine-mesh feel suited to child playrooms, decorative ceilings, and fine-feel residential surfaces that stay out of the weather. Highly comfortable. Pro-rated warranty: recommended 5 years inside; not recommended for outside use.
• 22mm DoubleRope Border Polyester. Same material engineering as the 30mm DoubleRope Polyester: 5mm high-tenacity thread, knitted square mesh, SWL 350 kg/m2. A preferred material for many applications because of its balance of budget and comfort. The 22mm is the smaller-mesh option for finer feel. Pro-rated warranty: 3 years outside / 7 years inside.
• 30mm DoubleRope Polyester. 5mm high-tenacity thread, knitted 30mm x 30mm square, SWL 350 kg/m2. DoubleRope inner reinforcement. Larger openings, more airy in appearance. Pro-rated warranty: 3 years outside / 7 years inside.
• SuperTramp. Our premium architectural mesh with a 1/4 inch (6.35mm) square mesh aperture. Available only in white. Excellent material; less budget-friendly than the other Polyester options. Pro-rated warranty: 7 years outside / 10 years inside.

For architects and interior designers writing this into a spec doc, the attributes you need are:

• Material: 1" Black Dyneema (high performance, black only), 13mm Polyamide (inside only), 22mm DoubleRope Border Polyester, 30mm DoubleRope Polyester, or SuperTramp. Substitutions across families are not equivalent in load rating or warranty.
• Color: White standard for 13mm Polyamide, 22mm DoubleRope, 30mm DoubleRope; Gray or Black available on those three at a small upcharge. SuperTramp is white only. 1" Black Dyneema is black only. Note: the black polyester options tend to last longer and are easier to see through than white.
• Pro-rated warranty: 0 yr outside / 5 yr inside (13mm Polyamide, inside only); 3 yr outside / 7 yr inside (22mm DoubleRope, 30mm DoubleRope); 7 yr outside / 10 yr inside (SuperTramp, 1" Black Dyneema). All pro-rated.

If you have a hard install date (a build inspection, a tenant move-in, a hurricane season deadline), tell us in the quote request and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

Contact us with your frame specs. Ideally email us a drawing and we will be able to typically provide recommendations for your application. In most cases the only difference is a higher cost for the attachments and the netting can be standard. We have recommended attachment options for most concrete and metal frames in stock.

This is the most common question on residential and loft inquiries. These are designed & built the exact same as we use for high-end sailing catamaran yachts where they are a critical working surface for the boat. They are designed to be walked on by adults and are the choice for active loft use and for child playrooms. The Quebec school children's playroom and the multiple Florida loft installations on our gallery are in active daily use. The key to the safety rating is a secure frame into which to hold the hardware that the net laces to. We provide the lashing line and install guidance with every order.

Because they are not the same. Our nets are designed to be able to be highly tensioned and walked on and to function at a high level for many years.

Architectural netting is the broader category, used for design, dock fills, loft floors, ceiling decoration, and any other custom installation. We do not claim to supply safety nets as those are regulated for fall protection which we do not claim.

Yes. Loft floors, mezzanine safety, child playrooms, home-gym storage, and decorative ceilings are all standard ATN architectural net applications. Our gallery shows residential installs in Florida (multiple loft conversions), Quebec (children's playroom in a school), Long Island (rooftop terrace), and Palm Beach (family install).

You enter the opening; we fabricate the net to fit. Minimum is roughly 3 ft x 3 ft (small balcony, decorative element). There is no hard maximum; our largest installs are over 30 ft per side. For a single net that needs to be larger than 25 ft x 25 ft we typically split into multiple panels with reinforced join lines.

Yes. Recent international installs include Bahrain, Haiti, Quebec, and Tulum Mexico. International freight is typically DHL, FedEx, or USPS Priority Mail International, $75 to $325 USD on a Triangle Dock Net kit; large netting orders are quoted at order. We provide a proforma invoice with itemized item weights for customs. Any import duties or VAT in your country are the buyer's responsibility.

Send us your opening dimensions (height x width, or a sketch with measurements), the application (loft floor, dock fill, decorative, etc.), the material preference if you have one (1" Black Dyneema, 13mm Polyamide, 22mm DoubleRope, 30mm DoubleRope, SuperTramp, or "you recommend"), the color preference, and your billing & shipping address. If you have any special cutouts or ladder access openings please note them. We will then put together an order along with a link you can use to place payment to confirm the order. Once ordered, we'll develop a drawing for your approval prior to manufacture to ensure a great fit.
