About the Tornado Reg White
About 4,700 Tornado catamarans were built worldwide by licensed manufacturers such as Sailcraft, Marstrom Composite AB, and Windrush Yachts, all following the same strict one-design class rules. Reg White helped design and build the boat alongside Rodney March and Terry Pearce, and it went on to serve as the Olympic multihull class from 1976 to 2008. Because the class rules were updated around 2004 to permit twin trapezes, flat-head mainsails, and asymmetric spinnakers, older hulls can often be upgraded to current racing specification during a refit.
