Built by Maine Cat since 2013 to Dick Vermeulen's design, the 38 carries forward the builder's trademark open 'great cabin' concept from the smaller 30, keeping all living space in the hulls instead of behind an enclosed bridgedeck salon. Maine Cat also offers an 'LS-E' electric-power version with twin retractable E-Tech 4.3 kW outboards and lithium batteries, a detail worth knowing for anyone servicing an older hull's propulsion. Still in production with an estimated 20 to 45 built, it remains a well-supported boat for owners keeping one sailing.
