About the Telstar 28
Performance Cruising Inc. of Virginia, the company behind the Gemini catamaran line, first built the Telstar 28 in 2003 to a Tony Smith design using plywood and fiberglass construction. Its double-hinged folding beams let the outrigger hulls tuck in tight for trailering and marina storage, a feature that keeps maintenance and haul-out costs manageable for owners. With an estimated 150 to 300 built, there are plenty of these folding trimarans still around for anyone considering a refit.
