About the Balance 421/451
This performance catamaran came out of Balance Catamarans in Cape Town, South Africa, designed by Roger Hill in partnership with Phillip Berman, who also heads The Multihull Company. Its semi-custom build quality, twin retractable daggerboards, and carbon and foam-core pre-preg hull explain why so many examples remain seaworthy and desirable for a refit. Twin 58 hp Volvo Penta diesels round out a boat that was engineered for genuine sailing performance rather than charter-fleet volume.
